What Is The TEFL Code Of Practice?

The World TEFL Accrediting Commission
The WTEFLAC (World TEFL Accrediting Commission) was originally founded as a knowledge gathering organization, to bring all of the ideas of effective TEFL teaching from around the world, and make it available to TEFL instructional facilities and individual teachers everywhere. At the same time, it was designed to be a standards commission. When a teacher gained accreditation from a teaching facility meeting commission standards, then it would mean the exact thing for another teacher getting their accreditation from a completely different facility, as long as it too was governed by those standards. It became a way to raise the general level of TEFL education, and define it for those teaching TEFL, or hiring TEFL educators.
The TEFL Accrediting Body Is A Quality Assurance Organization
Many will remember the great push of manufacturing agencies in the 1970s, and later to improve the quality of American and European products. This was in response to the groundbreaking quality programs devised by the Japanese. Prior to that time, American and European products were the finest in the world. Inferior copies produced in the Orient were denigrated and labeled “Jap Junk”. However, soon after the second World War, the Japanese industry realized they needed to increase their manufacturing standards if they were to gain a place in the world. With these newly created programs, the Japanese pulled ahead of its foreign competitors, and many American and European companies suddenly found themselves struggling to keep up. They had little time to devise their own strategies, and so in an ironic turn, as the Japanese had previously copied American products, now the American firms had to copy Japanese quality programs.
Since that time, standards-based organizations have learned the dangers of being lax, and have always taken a proactive position in defining standards and continually improving quality. This is the atmosphere of the WTEFLAC, which is doing for foreign-language teachers what the Japanese did for manufacturing.
What Is The Quality Assurance Program of The WTEFLAC?
The QA program for the World TEFL Accrediting Commission is the Code of Practice. If this sounds like branding, it is. The Code of Practice sits on the commission home page, and stands as the core of the standards arm of the commission. A goal of the TEFL Accreditation is that the Code of Practice will become as well known throughout the TEFL community as any education program has. They want TEFL teaching facilities to live by it. They want teachers to learnonly from commission-approved facilities, and they want those who hire TEFL teachers to look toward those standards while judging their candidates. With the growth of the commission, these goals are being realized. The Code of Practice is important now, and continues to gain in prominence throughout the TEFL community.

TEFL Accreditation Organisation Code of Practice

TEFL Accrediting Organisation
The main principles of the TEFL Accreditation Organisation are present in the code of practice, which is a standard that all who wish to become accredited must adhere to in order to maintain their status as an accredited member.
In regard to course advertising and promotion, all promotional material must accurately and truthfully represent the TEFL/TESOL courses that are available. Additionally, there must be no information omission. In order to allow you as a potential student to make informed choices, an accurate breakdown of the course and schedule must be offered. No hidden fees will be permitted, as all course providers must be transparent with the fees of their class. To regulate the selection and admission of students, a clear admissions policy is necessary and must meet equal opportunity standards.
Course delivery is also monitored in order to insure quality. Teaching and training must both be sensible and follow a clear methodology, and courses must be delivered by a TEFL Accreditation Organisation professional with at least three years of experience with teaching English as a foreign language under their belt. Professionals must be able to provide course materials that are easy to follow and relevant, making it easier for students to achieve their goals. The pace of the course itself is expected to be moderated in accordance with the needs of the students.
You should expect your professional staff member to provide continuous feedback throughout the course, allowing you to know how much you have progressed. Clear assessments should be provided on the entire spectrum of aspects that relate to the course, and the methods of assessment put into use should be clear and transparent to you in order to make the tracking of your progress easier. Once you pass the course of your selection, an approved certificate will be given to you.
If you are interested in the staffing or staff development of the TEFL Accreditation Organisation, then it is important to keep the following in mind. You must possess relevant experience and qualifications and you must have enough resources to allow you to deliver your course effectively. As a member of the staff, you will be given the room to develop within the organization. There should also be adequate training programs made available to you as a new trainer for whatever course you choose to teach.
Quality assurance is a large part of the TEFL Accreditation Organisation and all of these principles and guidelines are set into place in order to assure that quality service is provided each and every time. Clear standards are set for both those who are aiming to become a professional member of the organisation and for people who wish to become students. While there is a heavy emphasis on self-lead structure within the organisation, there will always be guidelines to follow and quality checks to ensure that these guidelines are being used. There are many procedures in place specifically intended to monitor and improve the quality of any given course, as well as to monitor the individuals both participating in the courses and the delivery methods of those teaching.
With the TEFL Accreditation Organisation, you can be sure that you will be met with excellent quality regardless of what path you decide to pursue.

Why Do Courses Need TEFL Accreditation?

TEFL Accreditation
A TEFL accrediting body can give courses the accreditation and proper respect they deserve. Without accreditation, both the course and the students that successfully complete it will be looked down upon by some. Unfortunately, there are courses that do offer good instruction but lack accreditation. When a student successfully completes one of these courses, if a potential employer looks into the course they completed it will reflect poorly on their employability, which is unfair to the student who invested time and money in the course. Furthermore, it is bad for the course, which will miss out on students.
From A Course Provider’s Perspective
If you are a course provider, your course has to be accredited. Without accreditation, many students will enroll in another course that is accredited. Even if you offer excellent instruction, without a TEFL accrediting body validating the course, it can be difficult for students and employers to gauge the efficacy of the courses you provide. To ensure that your course is respected and the students who complete it can find stable employment, you should pursue accreditation. Although there might be certain aspects of becoming accredited that are difficult, the benefits are immeasurable and will pay off very well over time.
From The Perspective Of A Student
If you are a student trying to decide which course is right for you, be sure to enroll in courses that are properly accredited. Unfortunately, some courses lack accreditation, and even if they seem appealing in other ways (such as being more affordable), if a potential employer sees the course on your resume and looks into the course online, you may be turned down solely because your instruction was not accredited. This can be both a waste of time and money, so be smart and only look for instruction that is approved by a TEFL Accreditation Organisation. If you want to find out whether or not a course is accredited, you can check the status of an organisation online. This way you are protecting your investment of time and money and doing everything you can to ensure your instruction benefits you as much as possible. There are plenty of other things to look for in a course, but this is one of the first things to verify.
Pursue Accreditation Today
If you offer courses that are not accredited, you need to pursue accreditation today. Do not let any more prospective students go somewhere else and give those who complete the course the ability to showcase their instruction properly. Accreditation ensures that your courses meet industry standards and shows students that their needs will be met. If you haven’t already, look into a TEFL accrediting body body today.

What To Expect From TEFL Accreditation Organisation Courses

Accreditation TEFL
The TEFL Accreditation Organisation works hard to provide you with the best TESL/TEFOL courses on the current market. By adopting and using a strong code of practice, you can be certain that every course available is taught well and designed to boost you to the professional goals that you are trying to obtain.
First and foremost, the TEFL Accreditation is all about transparency in every step of a course. This means that matters of any sort will be dealt with out in the open so that you know exactly what is happening every step of the way. This policy of transparency transfers over to every aspect of the organisation, including its hired professionals, the courses that those professionals provide, and the way that these professionals look after their students. All student progress is examined thoroughly and evaluations are given frequently so that you will always know where you stand. Additionally, the courses that a professional offers must pass strict examinations in order to prove that it will hold up to the high standards that WTEFLAC hold. This ensures that everyone involved will be getting the best out of their experiences with the courses.
In addition, quality assurance is a large part of the TEFL Accreditation Organisation. Every course that is offered and accredited is aimed to help the students in the best way possible. This standard is kept in place through careful evaluations of every part of a course. From the very start of a course, a clear standard of delivery is expected and will be monitored throughout in order to ensure that the quality level stays the same from start to finish. Older courses are also constantly being updated so that only the most current practices in the EFL industry are being passed on.
Along these lines, the staff is provided with sufficient materials in order for them to be able to teach a course thoroughly and to the best of their professional abilities. The professionals at the helm of these courses are also well suited to teaching the programs, and must have relevant experience and qualifications in order to teach an accredited class with the TEFL Accreditation Organisation.
With such a strong focus on providing an honest and fair market to everyone involved in the TEFL/TESOL industry, you can rest well knowing that the TEFL Accreditation Organisation is ready to make your foray into the industry a comfortable and simple one whether you are a professional looking to have a class accredited, a student looking for a class to take or anything in between.
